A souvenir postcard published for the 1904 Jubilee — fifty years after the Charge of 1854 — sold in aid of two funds: the Balaclava Light Brigade Charge Survivors’ Relief Fund, and the Sewing Parties’ Fund of the Strathnaver Fairy Circle. The photograph itself, by Fradelle & Young, shows a group of Balaclava survivors taken on the 24th of October 1903 at “The Elflyn Knowe” (the Strathnaver Fairy Circle Headquarters). Benjamin Soley (17th Lancers) is among the seated row — see his own page.
Every name and regiment printed on the card is transcribed below, in the order they run around the photograph, ready to be linked to each man’s own biography page as those are built.

A GROUP OF BALACLAVA LIGHT BRIGADE CHARGE SURVIVORS
At The Elflyn Knowe (Strathnaver Fairy Circle Headquarters) on 24th October, 1903.
Honour the charge they made!
Honour the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred!
“When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wonder’d.”
Tennyson.
Printed in this order on the card itself — the reverse of how the stanza is usually quoted.
N.B.—Net profits from sale of these Post Cards will be divided between The Balaclava Light Brigade Charge Survivors’ Relief Fund (which provides for poor Survivors) and the Sewing Parties’ Fund of The Strathnaver Fairy Circle (founded by an Old Harrovian), which Circle provides garments for the Country Holiday Homes of The Sutherland Needy Children’s Aid Society — a deserving South London Charity.
