Birth & early life

Born at Saddleworth, Yorkshire.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Manchester on the 3rd of February 1855.

Age: 21.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Labourer.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 20th of June 1855.

Transferred to the 3rd Dragoon Guards at Brighton on the 1st of March 1857. Regimental No. 317.

Embarked for India aboard the "Ghengis Khan."

Died at Nusserabad, India, on the 22nd of November 1861.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.

Death & burial

The India Office records shown him as dying from "dysentery" at Nusserabad, India, on the 22nd of November 1861. He was buried on the 22nd of November by "The Officer's Attending."
