Birth & early life

Born in Fulham, London.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 28th of December 1854.

Age: 22.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Labourer.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Brown eyes. Brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

Transferred to the 8th Hussars at Hounslow on the 13th of September 1857. Regimental No. 107.

"In confinement," 15th of January - 15th of February 1863 and sentenced to lose 30 days pay from the 16th of February.

Re-engaged for a further 12 year period of service on the 30th of June 1866.

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Aldershot on the 21st of November 1866: "Time expired after 21 years' service."

Served a total of 21 years 11 months.

In Turkey and the Crimea: 1 year

In India: 6 years and 6 months.

Conduct: "good".

In possession of two Good Conduct badges.

Awarded a pension of 10d. per day, "for life."

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah, 22nd-30th of March and at Gwalior, 19th-23rd of June 1858.
