Birth & early life

Born at Sutton, Surrey.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Reading on the 12th of May 1854.

Trade: Wick-maker.

No other enlistment details are shown.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

Transferred to the 8th Hussars at Hounslow on the 13th of September 1857. Regimental No. 101.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

From Private to Shoeing-Smith. 15th of June 1859.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Aldershot on the 11th of May 1866.

Conduct: "very good".

In possession of two Good Conduct badges.

Awarded a "Special Campaign Pension," (no date shown.)

To live in Reading after discharge.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah, 22-30 of March 1858.
