Birth & early life

Enlistment

Enlisted at Cahir on the 19th of October 1847.

Age: 22.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: None shown.

Service

Served with Lord Raglan's Escort Troop during 1855.

"Confined" from the 19th of February 1856. Tried by a District Court-martial on the 21st of February for "Being drunk on duty". and sentenced to 50 lashes and to lose 1d. per day for 168 days.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Death & burial

Died at Nusserabad, India, on the 13th of July 1859.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman, and Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah.

Further information

The India Office records show him as having died of "Apoplexia" at Nusserabad on the 13th of July 1859, aged 32 years. He was buried on the 14th of July by the Revd C.T. Wilson, Chaplain.

The Returned Medal book shows: "Mutiny medal returned to the Mint. No trace of issue."
