Born at Carrickbeg, Co. Waterford, Ireland.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 9th of May 1846.

Age: 25.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: Chandler.

Service

From Private to Corporal: 7th of June 1848.

Reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 14th of January 1852.

Died "in Camp" in the Crimea on the 12th of November 1854.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Inkerman and Sebastopol.

Death & burial

Died "in Camp" in the Crimea on the 12th of November 1854.

Left no will, but had 7/1d. in his "credits" and this sum was "handed over to Widow Tobin." (He was shown as sending money to his wife, Jane, from the Crimea, but no address was given.)
