Birth & early life

Born in Oxford.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 3rd of January 1855.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Baker.Appearance: Fresh complexion. Blue eyes. Brown hair.

Service, discharge & pension

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 15th of May 1855.

Invalided to England on the 16th of August 1855.

Transferred to the 1st Bn. of the Military Train on the 5th of May 1858.

Was Officer's-Mess Waiter during July-September of 1858.

From Private to Corporal: 7th of October 1858.

Reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 10th of November, confined, 10-14 of November and in a Military Prison from the 14th of November 1858.

In the Guard Room, 13th — 26th of July 1860. In a Military prison 27th of August — 13th of September and again 10th of October — 18th of November 1860.

Died "at Sea" on the passage home from China on the 14th of March 1862.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.
