1647, Henry PEARCE — 4th Light Dragoons

Birth & early life

Born at Cranbrook, Kent, and most probably a son of John Pierce [sic] and his wife Mary, nee Relf, who were married at Cranbrook on the 25th of December 1826.

Enlisted into the 15th Hussars at Hounslow on the 17th of November 1849. Regimental No. 1589.

No other enlistment details apart from his trade as a clerk are shown.

Service

Landed at Madras, India, on the 20th of December 1850.

Transferred to the 4th Light Dragoons on the 1st of November 1854.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "by purchase", from Brighton on the 26th of June 1856.

Served 6 years 188 days.

Conduct: "good".

In possession of one Good Conduct badge.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.
