Served with Lord Raglan's Escort Troop during 1855.
Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.
Re-engaged for 12 years further service on the 17th of November 1860.
From Private to Corporal: 4th of June 1864.
Reverted to Private "at his own request", on the 9th of October 1864.
Tried, and imprisoned by a District Court-martial from the 9th of December 1868 to the 3rd of December 1869.
Discharged from Dublin on the 9th of May 1871.
"Found unfit for further service. Sustained compound fracture of the left leg whilst on orderly duty in Dublin on the 23rd of December 1870. Fracture of the left tibia and general debility.
His general health has broken down and which is likely to continue so. Will be able to earn something, but not very much, towards earning a livelihood. Not aggravated by vice or mis-conduct.
Wounded in action at Burra on the 14th of August 1858. Bears marks of a sword cut on his back."

Shown on the Regimental "Married roll" from the 6th of November 1856, his wife's name being Ellen, but he was struck off from this for "Misconduct", on the 2nd of August 1870, no actual reason being shown.

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol.
