Birth & early life

Born at Manchester,c.1835.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Manchester on the 5th of January 1855.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Slater.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of June 1855.

Sent to Scutari from the 20th of August and invalided to England on the 14th of September 1855.

Transferred to the 17th Lancers at Cahir on the 1st of September 1857 (Another source states Aldershot) with the Regimental No. 63.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

"Deserted" from Longford, Ireland, on the 31st of March 1871.

Can find no further trace to 1879.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

The muster rolls for July-September 1858 show him as being "On Field Service" during September.

Can find no trace on the Mutiny medal roll.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
