Birth & early life

Born at Oldham, Lancashire, c.1830.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Manchester on the 14th of December 1854.

Age: 24.

Height: 5' 5".

Trade: Moulder.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Brown eyes. Brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 20th of June 1855.

Tried by a Regimental Court-martial on the 9th of January 1856 and sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment.

Transferred to the 1st Battalion Military Train at Brighton on the 1st of November 1856. Regimental No. 740.

Tried by a District Court-martial and imprisoned from the 23rd of September 1857 — 23rd of February 1858.

In the Guard Room, 4th of May and "confined in cells" from the 5-30 of May 1858.

Discharged, on the "Reduction of the Regiment" on the 15th of September 1858.

Served 3 years 342 days, to count.

Conduct and character: "bad." Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
