Birth & early life

Born at Cleve, Co. Cork, c.1834.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Cork on the 1st of December 1854.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Labourer.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea from Cork on the 16th of July 1855.

Sent to England from the General Depot, at Scutari, on the 6th of October 1855.

Rejoined the regiment at Cahir from the Brighton Depot on the 1st of June 1855.

The July-September 1858 muster rolls show no particular service entry for him during this period.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" in the 8th of October 1858.

In action against the rebels at Zeerapore on the 29th of December 1858 and at Baroda on the 1st of January 1859.

Invalided to England from India on the 3rd of March 1863.

To Aldershot from Colchester on the 2nd of March 1866, being attached to the 8th Hussars as a Rough-Rider.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired," from Aldershot on the 8th of December 1866.

Conduct: "very good."

In possession of two Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Mutiny medal without clasp.
