Born in Knightsbridge, London, c.1836.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 22nd of August 1853.

Age: 17.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Labourer.

Service

The Balaclava period muster roll states, "In Hospital".

Transferred to the 8th Hussars at Hounslow on the 13th of September 1857. Regimental No. 98.

Embarked for India on the 8th of October 1857 aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" and returned to England aboard the "St. Lawrence".

Served at Kotah, 22nd-30th of March and at Gwalior, 19th-23rd of June 1858.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Aldershot on the 30th of August 1866.

To live in London.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.
