Birth & early life

Born c.1820.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Maidstone on the 14th of January 1839.

Age: 19

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: None shown.

Service

Marriage registered

On 23rd of June 1840, after banns, William Groombridge, Bachelor, Private 4th Light Dragoons, married Emma Blackman, Spinster "Of full age", at the Parish Church, Maidstone. His father was named as Henry Groombridge, Labourer. Emma made her mark.

Joined the Regiment from Maidstone Depot on the 10th of April 1842.

Sent to Scutari on the 27th of December 1854 and invalided to England on the 23rd of March 1855.

Died at the Chatham Invalid Depot, 26th of August 1855.

Next of kin: Wife, Emma Groombridge.

His "credits" of 9/11d. were paid over to his widow.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol.

Commemorations

Death & burial

Sent to Scutari on the 27th of December 1854, invalided to England, 23rd of March 1855, and died at the Chatham Invalid Depot, 26th of August 1855.
