Birth & early life

Born c.1836.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Manchester on the 17th of December 1854.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 5".

Trade: None shown.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of June 1855.

A nominal roll of men of the regiment made out at the Cavalry Depot, Scutari, on the 9th off November 1855 shows him as being On Duty there from the 4th of November.

From Private to Corporal: 1st of May 1858.

Reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 24th of November 1859, after being confined from the 2-23 of November.

At the School of Musketry, Fleetwood, from the 31st of January — 31st of March 1861.

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Edinburgh on the 19th of December 1866, "on completion of service."

Conduct and character: "good".

In possession of two Good Conduct badges.

To live at Bolton after discharge.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
