The records of Fulford Cemetery, York, show that there is a family grave there, the erected stone showing that his mother, Ann, who died on the 16th of February 1874, aged 79, was the first interment, followed by his wife, Jane, who died 17th of August 1873, aged 49 (she was obviously older than him) and described as "Wife of George, a groom of Bootham", followed by his sister, Jane, who died 6th of August 1893 aged 69, of De Gray Street, York.
George Ellison was admitted to the workhouse from Minster Yard, York on the 6th of January 1898 and the Death Book shows his death on the 14th of May 1901, aged 65, of "Paralysis'. He was also interred in the above grave but the Cemetery records show his death on the 13 January 1901 [May?] aged 68 and his status is described as a Pensioner. There is no inscription for him on the stone, so there was probably no one left to make sure that his details were added.
