Birth & early life

Born in Stepney, London.

Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 21st of November 1854.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Painter.

Service

Joined the Regiment in the Crimea on the 14th of July 1855.

Sent to Scutari on the 12th of September.

Embarked for India aboard the S. S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Death & burial

The India Office records show a "Winnal Dalton", aged 29 years, died at Meerut of "cholera" on the 20th of July 1861.

Next-of-kin: Father, William Dalton, living in Clarke Street, Stepney, London.

He was buried on the 21st of July by the Revd. J. E. W. Rotten, Chaplain, in the Cantonment Cemetery.

From the Regimental "Casualty Returns" for the period, he left no will, his credits being £20/10/3d.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah.
