Death & burial

The muster roll for the period states, "Believed to have died on board ship", 20th of September 1854, but also "Died at Scutari, date unknown".

There is something odd here in the fact that the Scutari General Depot muster roll for July-September 1854 shows him as being there from the 21st of October and the word "Dead" with the date, "21st", in pencil.

That for October-December 1854 and January-March 1855 shows him as being in "Hospital", but in the "Remarks" column for the last quarter there is what appears to be the word "Dead".

There is no indication as to the date of death — if it was so — by this, as is shown in every other case.

Next of kin: Father, Richard Dedman, living in Chichester, Sussex.

He left no will, and had £1/2/8d in his "credits."
