Birth & early life

Born in Killkenny, Ireland, c.1830.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Clonmell on the 6th of February 1855.

Age: 25.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Smith.

Service

Embarked for the Crimea from Dublin on the 20th of June 1855.

At Scutari Depot from the 11th of July 1855, having been left "sick on voyage."

Transferred to the 12th Lancers on the 12th of August 1856. Regimental No. 616.

Confined, and tried by a Regimental Court-martial on the 18th of July 1864. In a Military Prison from the 19th of July — 1st of August 1864.

Discharge & pension

Discharged "time expired", from Aldershot on the 25th of April 1867.

To live at Ipswich after discharge.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Can find no trace on the Mutiny medal roll for the 12th Lancers.

Commemorations

Life after service

He had gone onto the "A" Reserve at Dublin on the 12th of December 1868, but was shown as "Struck Off" (no reason given) on the 6th of February 1878.
