Born at Lanark, Scotland.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Liverpool on the 19th of December 1854.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 5".

Trade: Labourer.

Appearance: Sallow complexion. Brown eyes. Brown hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea from Dublin on the 16th of July 1855.

Transferred to the 2nd. Bn. of the Military Train at Cahir on the 16th of October 1856. Regimental No. 847.

Transferred to the 3rd Bn. on the 1st of April 1857.

Absent from Shorncliffe Camp from the 22nd of August 1857

Posted as a "Deserter" from the 6th of December 1857.

Can find no further trace to March of 1865.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.
