Birth & early life

Born in Middlesex.

Enlistment

Enlisted into the 15th Hussars at London on the 2nd of December 1851. Regimental No. 1694.

No other enlistment details apart from his trade as a labourer are shown.

Service

Embarked for India on the 28th of April 1852.

Transferred to the 11th Hussars on the 5th of November 1854.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

From Private to Corporal: 23rd of December 1860.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "by claim", from Dublin on the 30th of December 1863.

Served 12 years 28 days.

Conduct: "good". In possession of one Good Conduct badge.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Went on to the "A" Class Reserve in East London on the 19th of May 1864.
