Birth & early life

Born at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Nottingham by the 7th Hussars for the 8th on the 2nd of January 1855.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: Frame-worker.

Embarked on the 24th of May and joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 15th of June 1855.

Sent to Scutari on the 14th of July 1855.

He is shown on a nominal roll of men of the regiment at the Cavalry Depot, Scutari, made out on the 9th of November 1855, as being On Duty there from the 12th of August.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1855.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired", from Northampton on the 5th of January 1867. Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Served at Kotah.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
