Birth & early life

Born at Saleen, Co. Cork, in 1811.

Enlistment

Enlisted 27th October 1831.

Trade: Labourer.

Service

Served with the regiment in Turkey only.

Sent to Scutari Hospital on 1st October 1855.

Invalided, 16th December 1855.

Discharge & pension

Discharged from Portobello Barracks, Dublin, on 16th October 1856 as:

"Unfit for further service. This man is quite worn out from age and length of service. His disability is no way attributable to vice or intemperance."

Age 45 years 7 months on discharge.

A War Office letter dated 6th August 1868 said he was totally blind. A subsequent one, dated 18th August, stated he was refused an increase in pension, but that he may become an In-Pensioner.

His name does not appear on the Medal roll.
