Birth & early life

Born in Cavan, Ireland, c.1835.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Dublin on the 6th of January 1855.

Age: 20.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Shoe-maker.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Hazel eyes. Black hair.

Service

Joined the regiment in the Crimea from Cork on the 19th of July 1855.

Discharged to Kilmainham Hospital from Dublin on the 12th of January 1857:

"This man is considered unfit for the duties of a soldier and is never likely to become efficient — from a weakly constitution. Not induced nor aggravated by his military service."

Served 1 year 325 days.

In Turkey and the Crimea, 9 months.

Aged 21 years 10 months on discharge.

Granted a pension of 6d. per day for 9 months, "final".

Conduct: "a good soldier". Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
