Enlistment

Enlisted at London on the 11th of November 1852.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 8".

Trade: Shipwright.

Service, discharge & pension

At Scutari from the 1st of April — 23rd of May 1855.

From Private to Corporal: 14th of February 1857.

Reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 5th of April 1858.

Discharged, "time expired", from Dublin on the 7th of March 1865.

Conduct: "good". In possession of one Good Conduct badge.

Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastopol, and the Turkish medal.

Named as "James" Cox on some rolls.

His name appeared on the 1877 list of members of the Balaclava Commemoration Society, but not in the 1879 revised list.
