Birth & early life

Born in Canterbury, Kent, c.1835.

Enlistment

Enlisted at Canterbury on the 18th of November 1853.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 7".

Trade: Carpenter.

Service

Sent to the Cavalry Depot on the 10th of July 1854.

Joined the Regiment in the Crimea on the 5th of April 1855.

Transferred to the 8th Hussars at Aldershot on the 1st of September 1857. Regimental No. 25.

Embarked for India from Cork aboard the S.S. "Great Britain" on the 8th of October 1857.

Served at Kotah and Gwalior.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "time expired," from Aldershot on the 9th of December 1865.

Served 12 years 21 days, to count.

Conduct: "good".

In possession of two Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Lummis and Wynn state, "Nothing further known."
