Birth & early life

Born at Kingston, Surrey, c.1825.

Enlistment

Enlisted into the 15th Light Dragoons at Hampton Court on the 4th of November 1843. Regimental No. 1279.

Age: 18.

Height: 5' 6".

Trade: Servant.

Appearance: Fresh complexion. Grey eyes. Brown hair.

Service

Transferred to the 4th Light Dragoons on the 1st of November 1854.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 25th of May 1855.

Transferred into the 12th Lancers at Brighton on the 1st of September 1856. Regimental No. 1863: "To serve with elder brother, vide War Office Order dated the 25th of August, 1856. "

Served with the Saugur and Nebudda Field Force in the engagements with the rebels at Jheeghuio on the 10th, Robais on the 17th, and the action of Bandao on the 19th of April 1858.

Discharge & pension

Discharged, "Free, at own request", from Liverpool on the 26th of September 1860.

Conduct and character: "Bad". Not in possession of any Good Conduct badges.

Medals

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol.

Mutiny medal with clasp for Central India.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
