This list aims to show all the men of the five regiments of the Light Cavalry brigade known to have embarked for active service in the Crimean War between 1854 and 1856.
It includes a number of men who did not serve on Crimean soil, but whose names should nevertheless be recorded. For example, some died en route in Bulgaria, Turkey, or at sea; and a number remained at Scutari but were actively engaged.
The list also includes some names not recorded in official or published medal rolls but who research has revealed were on active service at camp in the Crimea or on the expedition to Eupatoria in October 1855. However, it does not include those who remained at the various depots of regiments back in England and Ireland.
