Enlisted at Cheltenham on the 11th of June 1846.
Age: 18.
Height: 5' 6".
Trade: Frame-maker.
Light complexion. Grey eyes. Dk. brown hair.
Service, discharge & pension
At Scutari Depot from the 16th of October 1854 and was sent to rejoin the regiment on the 10th of November.
Sent to Scutari General Hospital to be invalided to England on the 28th of March 1855.
From Private to Corporal: 6th of August 1857.
Transferred to the 7th Hussars on the 1st of September 1857. Regtl. No. 146.
Reduced to Private by a Regimental Court-martial on the 20th of December 1857.
Served in the field in Oude, East Indies, from the 4th of February - 14th of May 1858 and including the Siege of Lucknow, 2-16 of March 1858.
Discharged from the Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, on the 11th of October 1864, as "Unfit for further service. - Suffers from Chronic Bronchitis - mainly due to climatic conditions during his service."
Served 17 years 87 days. In Turkey and the Crimea, 1 year. India, 6 years 1 month.
Conduct: "very good." In possession of three Good Conduct badges.
Nine times entered in the Regtl. Defaulter's book. Once tried by Court-martial.
Aged 36 years 4 months on discharge.

The 1881 Census returns show a man of this name was living in Butter Row, Rodbourne, Gloucestershire. an Engine Stoker in Saw Mills, aged 53, born at Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, with his wife, Mary Ann, aged 49, born at Pitchcomb, Gloucester, and 2 children, the eldest, a daughter, at being a Woolen Cloth Worker.
