Birth & early life

Born at Birmingham.


Enlistment

Enlisted at Birmingham on the 7th of December 1853.

Age: 19.

Height: 5' 7”.

Trade: Brass-finisher.


Service, discharge & pension

Sent to the Depot at Birmingham on the 1st of April 1854.

From Private to Corporal: 1st of February 1855.

Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 13th of August 1855.

Corporal to Sergeant: 9th of July 1856.

He had been left behind at Scutari on "Staff Employ" on the 3rd of May 1856.

Discharged, "time expired”, from Ipswich on the 7th of December 1865.

Conduct: "very good." In possession of two Good Conduct badges.


Medals & commemorations

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
