Born in Shoreditch, London.

 

Enlistment details

 

Enlisted at London on the 6th of June 1854.

No other enlistment details apart from his trade as a labourer are shown.

In confinement 29th-30th April 1855.

To service troops 10 July 1855, arrived as part of a draft on 3 August 1855.

Served Eupatoria.

 

Died in the Regimental Hospital at Preston on the 30th of January 1862.

 

Next of kin: Father, Thomas Callaghan. Living in Shoreditch, London.

He left no will, but had the sum of £1/17/9d in his “credits”. Of this, £1/2/1 was given to the widow of his brother, Thomas, and 15/8 to his brother’s daughter.

 

Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.

 

Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
