Enlisted into the 13th Light Dragoons at Dorchester on the 27th of February 1855.

Service, discharge & pension
Joined the regiment in the Crimea on the 3rd of August 1855.
At Scutari from the 1st of October 1855, and being invalided to England on the 18th of September, joined the Depot on the 4th of October 1855.
From Pte. to Cpl. 26th of September 1862.
Cpl. to Sgt. 8th of October 1864.
Reduced to Pte. by a Regtl. Court-martial on the 1st of May 1865.
Sent to the Depot at York when the Regiment left for Canada. 12th of September 1866.
Discharged, “time expired”, from Canterbury on the 15th of February 1867.
Conduct and character, “good".
In possession of two G.C. badges.
Once tried by Court-martial.
Medals & commemorations
Entitled to the Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.
Not recorded by Lummis and Wynn.
The 1881 Census Returns shows a man of this name as living at No 22 Fowell Street, Kensington, London, a House Painter, aged 45 (Handicapped-Deaf), born in Marylebone, with his wife, Sarah, aged 42, born in the City of London. No children are shown.
